The afternoon of May 27th 2019 will always be the most heartbreaking time in my life. When most university students were getting ready for summer jobs my parents were having to tell me that at the age of 18 I was diagnosed with an incredibly rare and spontaneous cancer. 5 days later I would start my first round of chemotherapy. My journey involved hundreds of blood draws, 20+ units of blood and plasma, 5 ER trips, and a battle with Sepsis. Luckily my mom was able to stay with me the entire time but some families aren’t that luck. That’s where the Team Lilly Foundation comes in, they provide meals, care packages, and emergency funds to families going through childhood cancer who need assistance.
The colour for Aware is a lovely chartreuse shimmer which represents my battle with Burkitt’s Lymphoma, a form of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. -
